Terms of Use
Version 2026-08-v1 · In effect from 15 August 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and PawPad for using it. By creating an account you accept them.
PawPad is in early access. That means features change, things occasionally break, and we rely on you telling us when they do.
1. What PawPad is for
PawPad helps you keep and organise your pet's health history: veterinary records you upload, observations you record, and the changes between them. It is designed to help you notice change and to prepare a clearer update for your vet.
2. PawPad is not a veterinary service
PawPad is a record-keeping and organisation tool. It is not a veterinary service, it does not provide veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a substitute for consulting a qualified veterinarian. Always seek advice from your vet about your pet's health, and contact a vet or an emergency clinic immediately if you are concerned about your pet.
You remain responsible for your pet's care and for the decisions you make about it, including when to seek veterinary attention.
- Nothing in PawPad is a diagnosis, a prescription, a treatment plan, or clinical advice.
- AI-assisted features organise and compare what is already recorded. They do not assess your pet, and they can be wrong or incomplete.
- PawPad does not monitor your pet. Nobody is watching your pet's record in real time, and no alert from PawPad should be treated as a clinical warning.
- Do not delay seeking veterinary care because of anything you read in PawPad. If you are worried about your pet, contact a vet.
- In an emergency, contact a veterinarian or an emergency animal clinic immediately. Do not use PawPad to decide whether a situation is an emergency.
3. Your account
- You must give accurate information when you register, and keep your password secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
- Accounts are for individuals. During early access, access is by invitation.
- You must be old enough to enter a contract in your jurisdiction.
4. What you may not do
- Upload information you do not have the right to share, including another person's veterinary records.
- Use PawPad to provide veterinary services to other people, or present its output as clinical advice.
- Attempt to access another owner's record, probe the service for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or interfere with its operation.
- Use automated means to extract data from the service, or resell access to it.
5. Your record stays yours
You own your pet's record. We do not claim ownership of what you upload or record.
You grant us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your content, process it to provide the features described, and display it back to you and to anyone you deliberately share it with.
You can export your full record at any time, in a structured format. If you stop using PawPad, you can take your record with you. Sharing with a clinic gives them scoped access to what you shared; it never transfers ownership.
6. Early access
- Features may change or be withdrawn while we learn what works.
- We may impose reasonable usage limits, including on uploads and AI-assisted features, to keep the service available and affordable for everyone.
- The service may be unavailable at times. We will try to warn you when we can.
- We may end early access, or your access to it, at any time. If we do, we will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your record first.
7. Liability
If you are a consumer in New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 give you rights that these terms do not limit or exclude. Nothing here is intended to affect those rights.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows: PawPad is provided as it is; we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-assisted output will be accurate or complete; and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
We are not liable for decisions made about an animal's health or care. That is the province of you and your veterinarian, which is why §2 says what it says.
8. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deletion removes your account and your pets' records on the timetable set out in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first.
9. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially we will tell you before the change takes effect, and ask you to agree again where your agreement is needed. Every version is dated, and the version you agreed to is recorded against your account.
10. Law and contact
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
